I knew people who knew him. They were always scared for him.

My perhaps stupid theory as to Eliiott Smith's greatness is that he double tracked his vocals on a lot of songs, so he was essentially harmonizing with himself. Those great whispery vocals in harmony with themselves sounds so otherworldly yet human.

Yes. I think he played all the instruments too. Or most of them.

Yeah, that is a very strange thing to have them Heckle him what an odd odd thing. I honestly have not listened to Anything that I would remember was him, but I can certainly do that. That's how out of touch I was back in the early 90s. I was focusing on court stuff with my daughter by and my career so I kind of got out of the loop. Madeline and Peter a.k.a. machine used one of the studios he had founded. If I am not mistaken and who should I see Pop his head out of the side entrances to another building? But tom robinson, who did all the punk rock p a stuff and some studio stuff

Blake, this is very good. Very good. But it also hit me funny. I later learned, somewhat to my surprise, that friends, mostly in Europe, thought of me in terms of Good Will Hunting. Prodigy, and a passing resemblance to Matt Damon at that stage of our lives. This sounds ridiculous, and I shouldn't push send, but . . . I never knew about Elliott Smith. Things were moving fast. Marriage, Europe, high level D.C. law, babies ... so this was a kinda gut check. I actually lost track of "culture" -- scare quotes intended -- while doing power and family. Not sure what that adds up to. But it's a beautiful piece, so thank you.
